Summer 2004 Updates

Welcome to Latreia's road journal. Our web developer has set up a website that will allow us to keep in touch with everyone stopping by, so let us take a moment and give updates:

The Team: The initial four members held the first meeting on March 9th. We had a great idea and an aggressive schedule backed by much enthusiasm and energy for service. Work started right away and we soon solidified our team at 5 members. You can find out a little about us by clicking on "Latreia Team."

The Service Sites: At the first meeting we set up our schedule (avoiding the winter) and divided up the states for contacting. Most of the states are contacted at this point, but we are finishing up loose ends and still making state to state travel plans. We plan to have all destinations on paper before we ever hit the road.

Latreia: Along with learning how to manage a website, the team members of Latreia are also learning about the process of becoming a 501(c)(3) (non-profit) organization. We have our Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws drawn up and have sent them on to a non-profit volunteer agency to look things over and help us through the process. We are working to establish Latreia as a lasting organization.

Fundraising: We are always working on fundraising, and have had some wonderful support from our friends, family and supporters from Wartburg College (the place where Latreia team members all came together). The truth is, however, that we are still in need of donations. We have researched grant opportunities and will soon begin the grant application process as we finalize our non-profit status. We also plan on speaking for churches and civic organizations throughout the summer and as we travel. If you would like to have Latreia speak to your organization or congregation, please feel free to contact us. We are confident that our prayers will be answered and we will be able follow through with our passion to serve.
