News from the Office
- Our second full summer of Urban Plunge mission trips is complete! It was such a blessing to watch six different youth groups from around the midwest share the love of Christ through serving others at so many different non-profits this summer! Now, we are preparing for the weekend retreat trips that are continually going on throughout the school year.
- Many thanks to our 2008 interns: Esther Silva, Amy Daniels, and Alyssia Kenow. These ladies worked on scheduling, programming, culture and ethnic awareness education, and marketing.. They were a huge blessing to Latreia!
- Latreia co-hosted the 3rd Annual "Picnic in Peavey Park" at the corner of Chicago and Franklin Ave on Wednesday August 2nd. We partnered with Good in the Hood, another non-profit based out of Minneapolis, to put on this picnic which brought together 500-750 local neighbors for a night of fellowship and free beef dogs! The Peavey Park area is one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Minneapolis and also one of the poorest. The picnic's program, which included dozens of prizes donated by area businesses, live music, and kids' games, is intended to help bring hope and laughter into what is otherwise a rather bleak neighborhood. We are very blessed by the more than 25 volunteers who made this event possible! We served over 1,000 beef dogs, gave away dozens of prizes (including two new bikes!) and watched the gospel message presented through mime to several hundred people!

- During May 2006 Latreia had its first college intern in the office! Ashley Weets from Wartburg College did a marketing/communications internship with Latreia. She designed new brochures, recreated dozens of different marketing pieces, and even designed our new t-shirt! Ashley was a phenomenal asset for us! If anyone else is interested in helping with Latreia for college credit, Latreia already has a program set-up so you can do it! Please email kelly@latreia.org for more information!
