Urban Plunge: Weekend Trips

Latreia offers weekend retreats for area churches who desire a hands-on service experience that could help launch congregants into new areas of serving their community. Many people cannot commit to a week-long missions trip, but now you don't have to! These retreats are designed to meet the needs of your group. We invite families, young adults, youth, and retirees to contact us about designing a weekend trip that interests you! Attendees will arrive Friday night to the Hospitality House Youth Center in North Minneapolis and stay through Sunday afternoon, serving at three different urban ministries throughout the weekend:

• Midnight basketball with inner-city youth
• Serving in a homeless shelter/soup kitchen
• Food packaging for meals to be shipped overseas

This type of event is strategically planned to accommodate adults who may work full time and be otherwise unable to devote a whole week to a mission trip, offering a local outlet for like-minded believers to unite in a dynamic weekend experience.

An Urban Plunge mission trip provides:

• A building to stay in with showers (you will need to bring sleeping bags)
• A service itinerary which provides you with a minimum of three different types of volunteer opportunities
• Food for three full meals a day for all of your participants
• Reflection and journal questions for on-site education and also for post-trip reintegration into your home community
• Local experts who will speak to your group on a variety of different issues: homelessness, poverty, aids, prostitution, etc.
• An on-site team of young adults who will help facilitate nightly discussion with your group (if desired by the trip leader)

How do I sign up?

1. Click here to complete the online application to request your weekend. Upon confirmation, deposits must be received within 3 weeks of registration to hold the spot.
